Justice (including Topical Questions)
MPs question a government minister
Oral questions to the Justice Secretary on matters within the department's remit, including the criminal justice system, courts, prisons, and sentencing. Topical questions allow MPs to raise urgent, recently-emerged issues affecting the justice portfolio. This session will test the government's handling of live criminal justice challenges and performance across courts, law enforcement, and the prison estate.
Justice questions directly scrutinise the government's management of crime, public safety, and the administration of courts and prisons—issues that shape public confidence in law enforcement and the legal system. They also reveal pressure points in sentencing policy and the resources available to prosecutors, judges, and prison governors, which ultimately affect crime prevention, victim support, and public spending.
