Liberal Democrats MP for Oxford West and Abingdon.

Chairing the Health and Social Care Committee has defined Moran's recent parliamentary presence — she contributed to 41 health debates and 27 on social care, more than any other topic. Outside Westminster, she has been a visible local campaigner: she secured a Westminster Hall debate on Thames Water's failures, raised "wild west" service charges directly at Prime Minister's Questions, and pushed government to fund the replacement of the ageing Kennington rail bridge. Her one rebel vote — backing an amendment to restrict the DWP's power to scan all benefit claimants' bank accounts, rather than only suspected fraud cases — broke with her party majority, suggesting a harder line on civil liberties than the Lib Dem leadership took on that occasion.
Her parliamentary participation rate of 64% is below the Commons average, though that figure is context-dependent for a committee chair with heavy scrutiny responsibilities. Within her votes, she is almost entirely aligned with her party (99.7%), and strongly backs parliamentary and Lords scrutiny — voting with her party on those dimensions more than nine times in ten. She deviates from the Lib Dem average by supporting assisted dying access more consistently and showing notably less support for measures framed as pro-local democracy.
Her committee chairship is the central lens for interpreting her activity: health and social care dominate her speeches, and her defence contributions (22 debates) are worth watching given recent Armed Forces Bill votes. News coverage over the past 90 days is broad but averages close to neutral in sentiment, with health-related stories carrying the most positive tone. Rebel vote and speech data are available; full content of some Armed Forces Bill amendments could not be determined from available records.
Layla Moran is the Liberal Democrat MP for Oxford West and Abingdon, and has been an MP continually since 8 June 2017.

Bluesky is the only social platform we ingest at the row level. The strip below is computed by classifying each post for substance (vs reposts, social mentions, scheduling) and then by tone (critical / measured / supportive) per target.
Select, joint and other committees Moran currently sits on. Committee work is where much of the line-by-line scrutiny of bills and departments happens, away from the chamber.
