International Development Committee: The UK’s International Climate Finance
Committee hears from witnesses
The International Development Committee will hear oral evidence on how the UK allocates and deploys its climate finance contributions to developing nations. The inquiry examines whether current spending levels, targeting, and effectiveness meet both international climate commitments and development priorities in partner countries.
Climate finance is central to UK soft power, climate diplomacy, and the credibility of its net-zero commitments. The evidence session will inform scrutiny of whether the government is meeting its pledge to increase climate finance to £11.6 billion annually by 2026, and how effectively that money translates into emissions reductions and adaptation support in vulnerable economies.
