3 Feb 2026Backbench Business Committee — Oral Evidence (2026-02-03)

You obviously have a decent number of speakers, but for us to bring this forward, half of them have to be from the official Opposition, so is there any chance of you getting some Conservatives to be concerned about this issue?

Taskforce Kindred has been a fantastic success of this Government. Can the Secretary of State outline if there are plans to extend the programme and how defence SMEs can get on board with it?

Thank you for bringing forward this important debate. I have had this raised by my local postie as well as in the emails. It is a little more around tone, but maybe you want to consider the additional pressure that the posties are under, because they are saying they are getting abuse on the doors for not delivering lat

21 Jan 2026Animal Welfare Strategy for England

We have seen a dramatic increase in the price of vet bills over the past couple of years. Does my hon. Friend agree that we need better regulation, more transparency and to bring bills down for our constituents?

Speaking about farming, my friend Kyle is opening up a company called Hoxton Farms, which is developing lab-grown meat. I invite everyone in the Chamber to come along in March to our open day and give it a try.

20 Jan 2026Backbench Business Committee — Oral Evidence (2026-01-20)

Thank you for bringing forward this important debate. You have 26 Members signed up to speak. Are you sure that 90 minutes in Westminster Hall would be adequate for everyone to get their views across and say exactly what they want to say? We have the power, as a Committee, to grant a three-hour debate on a Thursday aft

This week I met Paul Skivington from the UK Para jiu-jitsu team. Paul, who lost his leg in a motorbike accident, has been very active in inspiring the country by competing on the world stage of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Paul wants to get more disabled children involved in sports. What are the Government doing to incentivise

You have 21 Members signed up, which is pretty good. Do you anticipate a 90-minute Westminster Hall debate being adequate for the amount of people who want to speak on this very important subject?

9 Dec 2025Backbench Business Committee — Oral Evidence (2025-12-09)

Thank you for bringing this along, David. The topic covers a fair amount of ground, so who do you envisage being the answering Department, should we grant this debate on a Tuesday?

1 Dec 2025Defence Technical College: Swindon

I thank the Minister for his response. Recently I have been engaging with fantastic defence companies such as Rowden Technologies. Its owner, Rob, is keen to support me setting up a technical college in Swindon to support our emerging drone cluster, so will the Minister meet me to see whether we can push that further?

The title should be expressed in neutral terms. I am not sure how “modernising” is not neutral, but would you be happy to change your title by replacing “modernising” with “reform”? You would still be able to discuss exactly the same thing, but it would make it a lot easier for us.

11 Nov 2025Backbench Business Committee — Oral Evidence (2025-11-11)

Thank you for bringing this forward. Obviously, it is an incredibly important debate. There was a debate in February that lasted three hours and the amount of time that Members were able to speak for was dramatically cut down. You have a phenomenal number of people supporting your debate. Do you think you would require
