15 Jul 2026Agriculture & Rural EconomymeasuredThe report which outlines the catastrophic consequences of not prioritising our food security must be published in full. Food security is national security. www.theguardian.com/global-devel...
14 Jul 2026EnvironmentmeasuredYesterday saw the second annual Climate and Nature statement, with the Government highlighting their plans for 30by30. #climate #nature #parliament #goverment #politics
13 Jul 2026Utilities & WaterangryIt’s time we properly hold water companies to account for how much sewage they are dumping into our waterways.
9 Jul 2026Utilities & WatermeasuredYesterday I ask a PMQ, pushing the government to force water companies to be more transparent with the amount of sewage they are dumping in our rivers and waterways. Currently we only measure on sewage per hour, not a concrete amount. A drop an hour is not the same as flood.
8 Jul 2026Energy & Net ZeromeasuredAfter last week’s Lime Down Public Hearing I got the opportunity to put a question to the Minister for Energy Security and Net Zero about their plans to wheel back the blanket commitment of solar panels in car parks.
7 Jul 2026MP & Parliamentmeasured…convenient. It will also cost taxpayers around £450,000. I hope at least it offers a chance for Clacton to choose someone who spends more time championing local people. Whatever the outcome, I hope the constituency ends up with the hard-working representation it deserves. 2/2
7 Jul 2026MP & ParliamentangryClacton deserves an MP whose priority is the wellbeing of the people of Clacton, not the wellbeing of his bank balance. This by-election means that the Parliamentary Standards Committee's investigation into Nigel Farage will be put on hold for the duration of the campaign… 1/2
7 Jul 2026Local GovernmentmeasuredLast week I spoke at the Lime Down Public Hearing, voicing my opposition to the plans in their current state. #limedown #publichearing #politics #southcotswolds #mp
3 Jul 2026Defence & SecuritymeasuredI have written a letter to the Secretary of State for Defence regarding the reported investment planned for RAF Fairford. Whatever work ends up being carried out must be done with local residents’ wellbeing in mind.
2 Jul 2026Tax & Public Financesangry92% of voters support introducing a cap on political donations. 88% of Reform voters do. This isn’t a partisan issue. Everyone wants to stop parties being influenced by big money back handers. It’s time for a cap on politcal donations now. At some point, generosity starts to feel like bribery.
1 Jul 2026EnvironmentmeasuredYesterday I gave the opening statement at the public hearing for Lime Down. Residents were not reeling against renewable energy in general, but in the current failure to adequately account for the environmental, ecological and social consequences for the communities that will live with Lime Down.
30 Jun 2026Defence & SecuritymeasuredIt’s important that whatever expansions of US military presence or increases in spending comes to our constituency, the lives of local residents are held in mind.
30 Jun 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredYesterday, I co-sponsored a cross-party briefing on defending our UK democracy. We have seen in the US how quickly things can deteriorate if we only rely on the ‘good chap’ theory when trusting our leaders. We must strengthen our democracy before the next general election.
29 Jun 2026Local GovernmentcelebratoryI’m very happy to hear that Andy Burnham seems to be taking the very Liberal view of decentralisation of government and power. It’s something that both my Party and I have been championing for a long time. #mp #politics #westminster #parliament #decentralisation
26 Jun 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredThe current Labour Government got 30% of the vote, won 60% of the seats and have 100% of the power… how can that be fair? Every voter in this country deserves electoral reform. Every vote should matter, currently, only 30% of them do.
25 Jun 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredLabour believe that our current first past the post system delivers strong and stable Government. 7 Prime Ministers in 10 years doesn’t feel too stable. It’s time for change. We must reform our electoral system to better represent voters across the country.
24 Jun 2026EnvironmentcelebratoryAs part of the Climate and Nature Bill I put forward at the start of my time in Parliament, the Government committed to yearly updates on what it is doing to hit its climate and nature targets. I was pleased to hear from Sir Alan Campbell, helping ensure we get this update as soon as possible.
23 Jun 2026OtherangryTen years on from Brexit, a simple question needs to be asked - Do you feel better off? You would be forgiven for saying that you don't... Unless you were lucky enough to get a £5m reward for it.
23 Jun 2026Health & NHSmeasuredCommunity hospitals have been at the front of my mind since becoming an MP. The idea that a local community could lose its local health service, or even witness a reduction in what their local health services offer, is completely unacceptable. parliamentnews.co.uk/why-communit...
22 Jun 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredIt's important to really highlight that it's not just about replacing who is in Number 10, it's about fixing our broken politics so that we can rebuild the trust with the British public, ensuring that we deliver for them and their communities. 3/3
22 Jun 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredKeir Starmer was doing a really poor job. He just wasn't telling us a compelling story about where we are going as a country. On balance, I do feel this is good news. If he had hung on until the next general election, he would've driven the country into the arms of Reform. 2/3
22 Jun 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredI’ve been feeling quite torn about this. On the one hand, I feel that as a country we need to get used to not kicking a Prime Minister out every year or two, because we have deep systemic issues that do need to be addressed, and they will take time. On the other hand... 1/3
19 Jun 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryAs Independent Bookshop Week comes to an end, I had the pleasure of visiting some local bookshops to speak with some of the people who have made this week worth remembering. Bookshops are very often the highlight of our highstreets. We must do all we can to help keep them alive!
18 Jun 2026OthermeasuredWe need a UK-EU customs union now.
17 Jun 2026EducationmeasuredFollowing the recent Milburn review and my discussions on NEETs, this survey feels like an incredibly important thing to share. If you are between the ages of 11-30, follow the link below and fill out the Youth Voice Census. survey.alchemer.eu/s3/91044376/...
17 Jun 2026Housing & PlanningmeasuredAs thousands of new homes are built across our rural constituency, we have to ensure that we protect community hospitals.
17 Jun 2026Health & NHSmeasuredCommunity hospitals are more than buildings. I welcome the announcement of 250 neighbourhood health centres, but the government also needs to protect the amazing community hospitals we already have. When people are at their must vulnerable, they deserve the best, local care.
16 Jun 2026Utilities & WatermeasuredThe sewage crisis is a democratic failure, not just an environmental one. I recently gave my thoughts on the health of our rivers and waterways. Read them here: open.substack.com/pub/fairvote...
15 Jun 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryIt’s independent bookshop week this week. I had an opportunity to speak with the Booksellers Association about how vital they are for local communities. A great independent bookshop can be the cornerstone of a local town. We must keep these independent havens alive and kicking!
12 Jun 2026Cost of LivingmeasuredIt’s no secret that rural pubs are under a huge amount of pressure. Costs are rising, margins are shrinking - it’s time for action. The government needs to cut VAT for the hospitality sector. Ease the pressure. www.hellorayo.co.uk/greatest-hit...
