ReplyThe current Average Working Days Lost (AWDL) is 8.12. Regarding the number of performance warnings issued to staff, this can only be obtained through disproportionate effort.

ReplyImpacts on vulnerable individuals and equalities considerations are at the front and centre of our work. As required through the Public Sector Equality Duty, the Home Office considers equality impacts in detail throughout the policy development process. It is not possible to estimate how many departmental staff hours were spent as part of this process due to the continuing nature of this work when designing policy. No external consultants were involved in the preparation of the Equality Impact Assessment.

ReplyThe Home Office’s probation policy and guidance advises managers on the steps to take to assess a new employee’s suitability for the post and to provide support to enable them to succeed. It also advises on the steps to take where performance, attendance or conduct are not satisfactory. This can include exiting the employee or extending their probation to provide further evidence for a final decision on their suitability. However, the information requested can only be obtained at disproportionate cost.

The small increase compared to the answer of 12 March 2024 reflects a combination of factors includingConsolidation of standalone EDI roles within business areas into the central HR EDW Team following the publication of the Civil Service EDI Expenditure Guidance: Civil Service Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Expenditure Guidance - GOV.UKTeam members returning to the team who were previously on secondments or temporary roles outside of the team.

ReplyThe Home Office publishes data on asylum claims and initial decisions in the ‘Asylum applications, initial decisions and resettlement detailed datasets’ as part of the ‘Immigration System Statistics Quarterly Release’. Pre-2002 data on asylum claims and initial decisions for main applicants and dependants is published in tables as_01 and as_02 in volume 1 of the Asylum data tables.

ReplyThe Home Office does not regularly publish information about FNO appeals against deportation. However, in February 2022 an ad-hoc transparency piece on FNO lodged and allowed appeals, covering the period 2008 to 2021, was released. This provides numbers of appeals regarding the deportation of FNOs lodged, and the numbers of those which are subsequently allowed, and of those how many were allowed on human rights grounds only, broken down by financial year of the appeal lodged date.
