7 Jul 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredMy article in the Summer 2026 @thefabians.bsky.social Review. I set out some of the barriers which hold back working class people from becoming MPs, and outline how Labour can empower more working-class people on a path to Parliament. 👇
7 Jul 2026EducationcelebratoryNew sensory garden supports autistic pupils at Dagenham school
7 Jul 2026Local GovernmentmeasuredGood to meet with the London Mayor Sadiq Khan last night. Lots discussed. I will keep everyone posted as always.
7 Jul 2026MP & ParliamentsarcasticWatching Laura Kuenssberg , and Robert Jenrick had said the Times newspaper, is a Labour supporting paper. 😂😂. No challenge !
7 Jul 2026Economy & Jobs (General)measuredData centres are fast becoming the new landfill and can’t be the only offer for working class communities. My article in @LabourHome_ 👇
7 Jul 2026EducationcelebratoryGreat to visit Barking Market last week where children from Dagenham & Rainham schools were selling produce they had grown themselves as part of the @schoolfoodmatters.bsky.social young marketeers programme. Lots of buzz, and great to see. #FoodEducation is so important! 🌱🍎
7 Jul 2026Health & NHScelebratoryLast week I held a parliamentary drop-in to raise awareness of Pica. This is just the start of my work on this, with many actions to come in support of families across Dagenham & Rainham and beyond. Thanks to the MPs who stopped by to hear from my constituents.
7 Jul 2026MP & ParliamentsarcasticA couple of weeks ago @dailymail.co.uk asked for a comment on the ‘Rainham Volcano’ but only covered the interventions from a Tory MP and the Reform council. I guess my quote didn’t fit their narrative. Here’s the article (behind a paywall): dailymail.com/news/article... Here’s what I said. 👇
30 Jun 2026Defence & SecuritycelebratorySo proud to be at the armed forces parade on Saturday. We owe our armed forces so much. I am pictured with Councillor Stanton from Beam Park Ward. The other photograph is Dave Ainsworth a veteran. Thank you from us all.
30 Jun 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryLast Tuesday I was at Dagenham Green, joined by the @ldnculture.bsky.social, as Peabody and The Hill Group unveiled two new art installations to commemorate the striking Ford women. The story behind “Dagenham Agate” is fascinating and I’d urge residents to pop down and learn more!
30 Jun 2026Housing & PlanningmeasuredGiven the focus that exists on curbing welfare spending as well as seeking ways to ease the cost of living, now is the time to look again at rent controls. My piece in @labourlist.bsky.social here:
30 Jun 2026Health & NHScelebratoryBig step forward for young people in Dagenham and Rainham. New Mental Health Support Teams are being trained and will soon be working in our local schools – helping children get the support they need to stay well, stay in education, and thrive.
23 Jun 2026Defence & SecuritycelebratorySo proud, to attend the Armed Forces flag raising yesterday, at Havering town hall. To be able to thank the armed forces for all they have done, and continue to do for this country.
23 Jun 2026Cost of LivingempatheticI was proud to be asked to speak at the launch of the foodbank by the faith group. Ideally we should be in a place in society without food banks. But as they said today, and Pastor Peter from Rainham was there too, said the same thing. Working people are using food banks. Hope is their offer.
16 Jun 2026Jobs & EmploymentcelebratoryThis week @amandamartinmp.bsky.social and I launched the APPG for Tradespeople. Honoured to be elected Vice Chair on such an important group. We’ll be looking at a wide range of issues affecting trades, including tool theft and silicosis. Watch this space! 🛠️👀

2 Jun 2026Crime & PolicingmeasuredAs a member of the Home Affairs Select Committee, I had the opportunity to question the Chair of the Independent Inquiry into Grooming Gangs last week. I know there is a Westminster Hall debate on the subject today, but this is too important to be used as a political football.
