How has the EHRC ensured that it engages with a wide range of stakeholders? Have you had any proactive engagement with certain groups? Do you think that your consultation is fully accessible?

9 Jun 2025 Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories

While I welcome the news of sanctions and I commend the Minister for his hard work, surely this is just the beginning; as he said, the gravity of the situat

19 May 2025 Victims and Courts Bill

I declare an interest, as a member of the Women and Equalities Committee. Today marks a defining moment—a moment when we finally put victims at the heart of our justice system. For countless people in Bolton, that moment is long overdue. I am proud to support the Bill: proud because it empowers judges to compel offende

In addition to the regulators you have mentioned, do you think there needs to be updated and regular advice and guidance for medical practitioners?

14 May 2025Women and Equalities Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 869)

Thank you. Professor Coleman, you touched on this earlier; do you think there has been adequate research into the safety of breast implants? If not, in what areas is research needed?

14 May 2025Women and Equalities Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 869)

So do you think GPs in the UK typically have sufficient awareness and understanding of BII and BIA-ALCL to believe women when they present with relevant symptoms? What do you think could be done to better educate medical practitioners on these health conditions?

14 May 2025Women and Equalities Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 869)

My first question is for Professor Heneghan. To what extent are patients adequately warned of the health risks of breast implants prior to getting them?

25
14 May 2025Women and Equalities Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 869)

That is not going to happen.

14 May 2025Women and Equalities Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 869)

Ashton, you and I met last year, and you told me about a constituent. For the purpose of the Committee, I will just tell the story a little. Louise Moller experienced significant trauma following a botched liquid BBL procedure at a non-surgical clinic. She travelled from Bolton to Chelmsford in Essex for the procedure.

I have one final question. Ashton, you used the word, “perpetrators” earlier. I wanted to ask you all, do you see this as another form of exploitation of women?

According to the Education and Development Forum, planned cuts to the official development assistance budget could slash UK aid for education by more than 70% by 2027 compared with 2019 levels. In Gaza, where 95% of schools are damaged and 650,000 children go without formal education, UK-backed programmes will be vital
