Labour and Co-operative Party MP for Edmonton and Winchmore Hill.

Osamor's most consequential recent act was voting against her own party on the Universal Credit and Personal Independent Payment Bill at Second Reading in July 2025 — one of five rebel votes she has cast since November 2024. Four of those rebellions concern assisted dying, where she has consistently opposed the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill at every stage, putting her sharply at odds with the Labour majority. Her voting record on welfare is similarly resistant: at 47% alignment on welfare expansion, she sits well below the party norm. Her appointment as trade envoy to East Africa in early 2025 drew mixed coverage — commended locally but criticised nationally over past conduct, including a previous threat against a journalist.
At 54% voting participation, Osamor votes in roughly half of all Commons divisions — below the typical MP rate. Where she does vote, she is a 98% party-line MP outside her two clear areas of dissent: assisted dying (0% aligned, versus 58% across Labour) and welfare. Her speeches cluster around social care, health, and community issues, consistent with constituency pressures in Edmonton and Winchmore Hill. She has also engaged on local transport, co-signing a letter urging devolution of the Hertford Loop Line, and publicly challenged plans to close Edmonton Police Station's front counter.
Osamor holds no select committee seat, which limits her formal scrutiny role. Her stance profile flags low alignment with pro-business positions (19%) and parliamentary scrutiny votes (20%), while she scores 100% on progressive taxation. News coverage over the past 90 days is broadly neutral across 22 articles, dominated by local crime and community issues. No current committee data is available to assess her investigative or legislative influence beyond the chamber floor.
Kate Osamor is the Labour (Co-op) MP for Edmonton and Winchmore Hill, and has been an MP continually since 7 May 2015.
