13 Jul 2026Culture & Communitycelebratory'The Hay Wain — a masterpiece, back where it belongs' A wonderful review of Christchurch Mansion's Constable 250 exhibition in @thetimes.com. 'Constable’s most famous painting has never been exhibited in Suffolk - until now. Don’t miss this beautifully presented exhibition in Ipswich'
11 Jul 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryThe Hay Wain has come home. For the first time ever, this iconic masterpiece is being displayed in Suffolk as part of the Constable 250 at Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich. 'Walking Constable’s Landscape' is the second in a three-part exhibition and opens today. We should all be so proud.
9 Jul 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryIPSWICHELLA! Halo Festival burst onto the scene with a mix of multi-million-selling artists and upcoming local talent. Combined with Ipswich Music Day, the largest free 1-day music festival in the UK, this weekend underlined Ipswich's status as one of the most exciting music scenes in the country.
8 Jul 2026Social CarecelebratoryAfter years of brutal cuts, our Government is rebuilding family support through Best Start Family Hubs. The first new Hub has been confirmed for Suffolk, but I know we have to go further. That's why I met with Minister Liv Bailey to discuss how we can expand and accelerate the rollout.
4 Jul 2026TransportcelebratoryA huge thank you to the 4,000 people who signed my Back the Bypass petition. This is about much more than traffic congestion - it is about the long-term future of our local economy. It's time to end years of a 'do nothing' approach and get to work on an Ipswich Northern Bypass.
3 Jul 2026TransportmeasuredThis sort of speculation is unhelpful. There are specific changes to projects in RIS3 to fund the DIP, but nothing's changed for Copdock which is in the RIS4 pipeline as confirmed this year. Rail is protected so we need to complete the work asked of us to advance Ely/Haughley.

2 Jul 2026Technology & DigitalmeasuredI recently visited Northgate High School with the @childrenscomm.bsky.social The subject of digital and AI came up a lot, so I asked the Minister what the Government is doing to make public services accessible in a modern age, and how we can boost young people's digital and ai skills.
1 Jul 2026Energy & Net ZeromeasuredIt's also how we can deliver growth to towns like Ipswich across the country. It's why I’ve been championing Sizewell C, because major infrastructure projects should leave a lasting legacy for local people, creating high-quality jobs, apprenticeships and opportunities.
1 Jul 2026Economy & Jobs (General)measuredIt was a pleasure to join a panel on 'Delivering Growth Through Supply Chains' at the @britishchambers.bsky.social Global Annual Conference last week. We discussed how we can build stronger, more resilient supply chains that drive economic growth across the UK.
30 Jun 2026Economy & Jobs (General)celebratoryApplications have opened today for our Government's Youth Jobs Grant, a £3,000 hiring bonus for employers who take on young people who have been out of work for six months or more. Good for young people. Good for businesses. More information can be found here: www.gov.uk/government/p...
30 Jun 2026Culture & CommunityangryAs I said earlier this year, conversion therapy is dangerous, widely discredited and barbaric. This terrible practice must end. Now our Labour Government has published a draft law that will ban conversion practices, that end is now in sight.
29 Jun 2026Health & NHScelebratoryOur Government's £8 million package will mean over 30,000 more people in Suffolk and Norfolk will benefit from faster NHS support to manage obesity. This is exactly the kind of investment that helps rebuild our NHS while improving people's health and quality of life.
27 Jun 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryIt was wonderful to welcome some incredible people to Parliament to celebrate Suffolk Day. It was an opportunity to highlight the work of our brilliant Suffolk community, applaud our achievements over the past year, and champion the all amazing things that are happening across our great county.
26 Jun 2026Environmentsarcastic'The hottest place in the country, on what is the provisional hottest June day on record, has been recorded in Suffolk.' Don't worry though, climate change isn't a problem anymore, according to Reform-led Suffolk County Council.
25 Jun 2026Cost of LivingcelebratoryOur Labour Government's Great British Summer Savings starts today! It'll be cheaper for families in Ipswich to eat out, go to the cinema, or have fun at soft play, adventure centres and theme parks. Children will also have free bus travel in August! It means more fun this summer, for less.
25 Jun 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryA privilege to attend Combat 2 Coffee's Bigger Breakfast this week. It is an amazing event which attracts hundreds of veterans, serving personnel and their families, but Nigel and the team do incredible work all year round. Brilliant support from local businesses - and a few legends too!
24 Jun 2026Health & NHSmeasuredNo woman should be left in pain or dismissed while waiting for treatment, and I will keep working with NHS leaders, campaigners and colleagues to deliver better care for women across Ipswich and Suffolk.
24 Jun 2026Health & NHSmeasuredOur Government is determined to turn ambition into delivery through the Women’s Health Strategy, but I know we have much to do locally.
24 Jun 2026Health & NHSmeasuredI have supported action on endometriosis, including leading a debate on the issue in Parliament, calling for faster diagnosis, reduced referral delays, better training for clinicians, and stronger specialist women’s health services so symptoms are taken seriously earlier.
24 Jun 2026Health & NHSmeasuredToo many women in Suffolk continue to face long waits for diagnosis and treatment, particularly for conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids and other gynaecological conditions.
24 Jun 2026Health & NHScelebratoryI’m delighted by the launch of Suffolk’s first Women’s Health Support Hub, a welcome step forward in improving women-centred, joined-up healthcare. I want to pay tribute to Monica Thomas who has been the driving force behind this initiative.

24 Jun 2026Educationcelebratory🍽️ Great to attend the opening of the @foodmuseumuk.bsky.social's School Dinners exhibition in Parliament. Our Government is supporting children by rolling out new breakfast clubs, expanding Free School Meals and abolishing the two-child cap. Every child should have access to healthy meals.
22 Jun 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredMy statement on the Prime Minister's resignation.
18 Jun 2026EducationcelebratoryWant to find out what my Summer School is like? Hear from the young people who joined me last year about their experience 👇 Find out more and apply for this year's Summer School, here: www.jackabbott.org/summerschool
18 Jun 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryTomorrow, Ipswich will come together for a community picnic at Christchurch Park, 3.30pm-6.30pm. It's part of the Great Get Together's 10th anniversary in memory of Jo Cox MP. Come along and bring your family, friends and neighbours too - and some food!. Please share so people hear about it.
16 Jun 2026Economy & Jobs (General)measuredIf we care about the future of Ipswich and Suffolk, we have to invest in it. Agree? Sign my petition here: www.ipswich-labour.org.uk/ipswich-nort...
16 Jun 2026TransportangryIf Reform-led Suffolk County Council continue the Conservatives' 'do nothing' approach, they will be making a deliberate and damaging choice to wave goodbye to businesses who will move to areas which back new and improved infrastructure.
16 Jun 2026TransportmeasuredAn Ipswich Northern Bypass isn't just about relieving the constant traffic caused by issues on the Orwell Bridge and the A14. It is also about future proofing our local economy, in particular the jobs investment linked to the Port of Felixstowe.
