I suppose that the most high-profile use of a petition, which will resonate most with people, was on the issue of equal marriage for people from the LGBT community. Consensus was demonstrated, but it was not to the taste of the DUP, and it was repeatedly blocked. I think that is how people understand the use of that me

Thank you very much, Matthew. The Chair has her beady eyes on me and the clock, so I will leave it there.

I do not think we have heard how the Assembly existing, or synchronising the titles would injure one community. We have heard views on how reform can and cannot progress. You rightly said that your party has championed reform. Matthew O’Toole set out that for years very substantial reforms, including to mandatory coali

I appreciate that there are things that you would like to say, but I have asked you a specific question, which you are refusing to answer.

10 Jun 2026Belfast: Violent Disorder

It has been a shocking two days in Northern Ireland. The horrific knife attack in north Belfast has left a man fighting for his life, and an entire community distressed by what they have seen. Justice must of course take its course and deliver for that victim, whose family have asked for calm. Last night brought furthe

Shane and Simon, I will come to you briefly, but the clock is ticking because we have NIQs in a few minutes. Are there any issues, separate from those that Richard has touched on, that are important for us to know?

There is one very quick question for me because we have an eye on time. I wanted to come back to skills. Each of your sectors is strong, strengthening and has huge potential for the region. I wanted to get your assessment of the skills pipeline. Are you getting the school leavers and graduates that you need? In particu

I welcome the opportunity to contribute to the debate, and thank the hon. Member for Mid Bedfordshire (Blake Stephenson) for securing it. In doing so, I acknowledge the complexity of the issue and the dynamics, which many Members may agree with, or be susceptible or exposed to, in their constituencies. I do so also as

Will the shadow Minister acknowledge that no party and no victims’ group in Northern Ireland supports the Conservative party’s approach to the past, and that even the Dillon judgment last week did not in any way rule it legal? Would he not agree that soldiers following the rule of law is a matter of recruitment, too? N

I just want to ask about the targeting. We are really glad that the Executive brought forward a package. I have to say, as the opposition, we spent six weeks saying that they should bring forward a package, and they said that that was only for London, and we were just writing letters to London.
