29 Apr 2026Points of Order

On a point of order, Mr Speaker. The whole House will be very concerned to hear about the dreadful stabbings this morning in the borough of Barnet. As the Member for Hornsey and Friern Barnet, I am very worried about this repeated violence against the Jewish community. I want to reach out to the whole House to say that

That is a really good snapshot.

25 Mar 2026Treasury Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 1552)

Thank you, Dame Meg. What is the panel’s overall assessment of the strategy? What does it get right and where does it fall short?

25 Mar 2026Treasury Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 1552)

We have a good snapshot there. Ms Undy, without repeating any of that, is there anything further to add?

25 Mar 2026 Public Baths and Lidos

My hon. Friend mentions community. Does he agree with me that pool users’ groups are crucial to keeping up standards in our ageing facilities? Would he also agree that we must target younger children so that they can swim lifelong in what is often very cold water, and that school swimming is crucial?

The Minister is making an excellent point about prevention. The other thing that Swim England always emphasises is the importance of 11-year-olds being able to swim when they leave primary school. As a former teacher, does he agree with that?

25 Mar 2026Treasury Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 1552)

When you talk about accountability and about when the market fails, the big question is what the role of Government is and what the role of the market is. During the covid years, when the then Prime Minister had to think about strategies for the tripartite attempt—trade unions plus the CBI, plus Government—to invent a

You have a smile from Mr Grady, the Scottish MP here.

25 Mar 2026Treasury Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 1552)

Ms Undy, you have a background in mental health. What are the wider areas of Government policy that are more likely to determine whether the strategy succeeds or fails?

24 Mar 2026Treasury Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 417)

My questions are on SMEs and lending. Last week there was a call launched by you for input on what the FCA can do to support access to finance for SMEs. What prompted that?

24 Mar 2026Treasury Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 417)

Is there an endgame in terms of what the FCA would like to achieve, or is it quite open-ended?

24 Mar 2026Treasury Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 417)

One of the things the Chancellor wanted to do straight after the general election was to remove some of the barriers for business. Do you think that the FCA’s own rules could be a key barrier to greater SME access to finance?

24 Mar 2026Treasury Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 417)

Ten years on from the EU referendum, what are the remaining areas, getting out your crystal ball, of former EU market abuse regulation that the FCA is planning or allowing some resource for as it comes forward? Are there further areas where you believe you will have to be active?

I do not know whether Mr Alder wants to come in.

24 Mar 2026Treasury Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 417)

You have mentioned prosecutions twice in this session, so I will not go over that. In terms of trying to create a culture change, do you feel that you are making progress on that, or that the marketplace is making progress on that, or is it just going to come out somewhere else?

24 Mar 2026Treasury Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 417)

Is there a way of measuring the frequency with which the judgments are published with the outcomes in terms of prevention?

24 Mar 2026Treasury Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 417)

Last year, the FCA changed the way it measures insider trading and concluded that, based on our insights, we have not seen an increase in market abuse over the last three years. Was the FCA measuring it wrongly before that, or is market abuse now under control in the UK?

24 Mar 2026Treasury Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 417)

Does growing consumer involvement in those retail markets that you have mentioned mean that the FCA must do more to educate new entrants to the market?
