11 Jun 2025Women and Equalities Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 942)

Coming back to the interim update itself, it states, “trans men…should not be permitted to use the men’s facilities” and that “in some circumstances the law also allows…trans men…not to be permitted to use the women’s facilities”. What does that mean in practice?

Okay. I just want to put on record that that is worrying for your organisation, and I just wonder what that tells us about the organisation.

11 Jun 2025Women and Equalities Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 942)

I am incredibly proud to come from the wonderful country of Wales. It is the most beautiful, welcoming, open and supportive country, especially for LGBTQ people, and it is a country whose Labour Government said in their LGBTQ+ Action Plan in 2023, “It’s important to set out that Welsh Government’s position on trans peo

There have actually been six permanent and interim. Why do you think that change in CEOs happened so often?

1 Jun 2025Decriminalising Abortion

Does my hon. and learned Friend agree that the best way of keeping women’s protections to have an abortion and to stop the criminalisation of women, which he has been talking about, is to support new clause 1, which my hon. Friend the Member for Gower (Tonia Antoniazzi) has tabled, to the Crime and Policing Bill?

21 May 2025Creative Industries: Wales

A musician, an animator and a horror writer are among the many constituents who have written to me recently to express their concerns about generative AI being trained on their work without compensation and without their consent. They need action now, not in 18 months when the damage will have been done and their work

21 May 2025Topical Questions

T2. Recently I have been contacted by constituents with concerns that breaking into the arts and creative industries, and staying in those industries, is incredibly difficult for those from lower-income backgrounds or those living outside major cities and media hubs. As the Minister knows, having visited Monmouthshire

21 May 2025Women and Equalities Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 867)

Kaitlyn, I agreed with your comments on regulation, moderation and education. I thought that was really powerful, but I have just been sitting here thinking, “How are we going to get any social media company to moderate?”. Would you say it would be a good idea for us to recommend that we need to try to persuade one soc

21 May 2025Women and Equalities Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 867)

You have answered this to some degree, Janaya, but could you build on what you and Dr Lisa have already said about how the manosphere content leads on, if indeed it does, to violence against women, and how does it amplify, in your opinion?

21 May 2025Women and Equalities Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 867)

In terms of the link, how can we break the link between the manosphere and the content that boys and men are seeing? What makes them then go on to commit an act? Obviously not every young boy who sees that content will go on and do something, so what is it that is making them act? I do not know if anyone else wants to

Just to finish on that point, do you feel that needs to be included in the strategy for halving violence against women and girls?

Dr Katelyn or Dr Lisa, do you want to make a comment about what kinds of behaviour or harm towards women the manosphere encourages?

Janaya, in several of the answers we have touched on the Online Safety Act. Just to be clear, do you think that the Online Safety Act adequately addresses misogynistic content online?
