13 Jul 2026EducationmeasuredIt was great to be back at Looe Community Academy to meet with the Headteacher and members of staff. We had an honest conversation about some of the challenges the school is facing, alongside the exciting work underway to improve outcomes for pupils.
8 Jul 2026Health & NHSmeasuredI know that we need to take action to address concerns about NHS dentistry. So, I’ve raised our needs in Parliament to the Department for Health and Social Care and demanded a meeting to discuss the urgency of fixing recruitment and retention issues in areas like ours.
8 Jul 2026Health & NHSmeasuredContinuing to take action to support defibrillator access, I have written a letter to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care about what steps are being taken to ensure that support is available to maintain defibrillators and to improve public awareness about CPR and defibrillator use.
22 Jun 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredRead my statement on Sir Keir Starmer's resignation below 👇👇👇
22 Jun 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratorySir David Attenborough has spent his life helping us to see the beauty and wonder of the natural world. During a recent debate in Parliament about a permanent national monument in his honour, I raised the importance of ensuring any work is designed and created by British artists.
22 Jun 2026Local GovernmentmeasuredTamarTag applications are now available fully online, which is good progress to save people time and make it a bit easier to access essential services across the Tamar. But it’s a measure that should already have been in place for years. We need technology that is fit for 2026.
22 Jun 2026Energy & Net ZeromeasuredI recently met with representatives from Sheviock Parish Council in Tredis to speak more about the issues that they have faced with an energy provider hiking up their defib energy bill from £144 a year to £1400. I am pleased that the supplier has taken appropriate steps to address their concerns.
22 Jun 2026Defence & SecuritymeasuredIn coastal areas across the UK, including here in South East Cornwall, Coastguard Rescue Officers bravely tackle situations to keep us safe around our coastline. I recently wrote to the Chief Executive Officer of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency calling for a meeting to discuss the decision.
18 Jun 2026MP & ParliamentempatheticI attended a deeply moving event in Parliament to celebrate the life of Jo Cox, 10 years after she was murdered. We thought of her family, friends, and everyone in her life who loved her.
17 Jun 2026Technology & DigitalmeasuredI welcome the Government’s announcement that we will ban social media for under-16s, and I will continue to look at how we can hold those responsible to account for the content that they choose to promote.
17 Jun 2026Technology & DigitalempatheticAnd I have worked with families that have been affected by online harms, and who know about the devastating effects on loved ones and local communities. With young people spending increasingly more time online, we need to take action to address the issues we know are all too real.
17 Jun 2026Technology & DigitalmeasuredI have been raising this issue with local residents, national organisations, and Ministers because I know how important this is to us in South East Cornwall. Many local people have contacted me with their concerns
17 Jun 2026Technology & DigitalmeasuredSo, I raised this incredibly important issue during Prime Minister’s Questions in Parliament, where I emphasised that we need to continue strengthening accountability and protect vulnerable people online.
17 Jun 2026Technology & DigitalmeasuredWe must protect our children and vulnerable people from harmful content online. We know that modern social media algorithms go much further than simply hosting content, it’s not a community noticeboard anymore. When a company decides what millions of people see online, responsibility should follow.
17 Jun 2026Health & NHSmeasuredSouth East Cornwall needs more dental services! Living in the constituency, I know what a nightmare it is trying to access a dentist, we need improvements and I'm working hard to make this happen. I recently spoke more about this issue on Radio Cornwall.
17 Jun 2026EnvironmentcelebratoryThe National Grid Electricity Distribution Community Matters Fund is now OPEN! It will provide grants of up to £5,000 to grassroots charities and community groups working to protect, improve and create green spaces for their local communities. localgiving.org/community-ma....
16 Jun 2026Economy & Jobs (General)measuredHospitality is a vital part of our economy in South East Cornwall, and with the summer season beginning to ramp up, I recently spoke in an important debate in Parliament about support for seasonal hospitality businesses in coastal areas like ours.
16 Jun 2026Health & NHSmeasuredI am working alongside the Resuscitation Council UK to encourage defibrillator guardians to check that their devices are working correctly. Defibs are life-saving bits of kit. I’m working with a local Parish Council and community groups to ensure that they remain operational.
16 Jun 2026TransportmeasuredI will continue to work locally with stakeholders on both sides of the river, as one Team Tamar, and in Westminster, to raise the concerns of people in South East Cornwall.
16 Jun 2026TransportmeasuredThat’s why as part of this work, I’ve written to the Department for Transport to secure a meeting so that we can discuss the long-term future and resilience of the crossings.
16 Jun 2026TransportmeasuredI am determined to deliver fairer transport for local people in South East Cornwall. The Tamar crossings are a key issue for our area and sit at the top of the agenda for many of us. I’ve been making the case that they support regional connectivity and nationally significant economic activity.
16 Jun 2026Health & NHScelebratoryThank you to Cornwall Air Ambulance, who recently came up to Parliament for an event. I’ve been supporting this incredible charity. They want to ensure that they are included in national emergency and prioritisation planning, so I have raised this issue with the Leader of the House.
16 Jun 2026MP & ParliamentcelebratoryMy team and I have now actioned over 20,000 cases since I was elected as your MP, and I’m incredibly proud of the hard work that goes into supporting people across South East Cornwall.
16 Jun 2026TransportmeasuredAs your MP, I often engage with our local councillors from across the political spectrum to speak about the issues affecting us in South East Cornwall. In a recent meeting, we particularly focused on the Tamar crossings. We must work together to deliver fairer transport for local people.
10 Jun 2026EducationmeasuredI recently spoke with Dr Alec Forsyth about the importance of studying how to grow plants in further education. Horticulture (the science of growing fruit, veg, trees etc), is important for rural farming communities so that we can be innovators in the field and drive future sustainable growth.
10 Jun 2026EducationcelebratoryGreat news! Three schools in South East Cornwall have been successful in their bids to secure a share of the £450 million Condition Improvement Fund. I want to congratulate the schools and thank everyone involved who took the time to bid for the funding.
4 Jun 2026Local GovernmentcelebratoryBoth teams have worked hard to keep Looe’s residents, visitors and businesses safe. Our emergency services face extra pressures in peak visitor seasons. That’s why in Parliament I emphasised the importance of fair funding to further support our emergency services in busy periods.
4 Jun 2026Crime & PolicingcelebratoryI also want to thank the RNLI for their incredible work in these incidents, and the work of local security officers who were funded through a partnership between Looe Town Council and Looe Business Forum with support from the Devon & Cornwall Police & Crime Commissioner’s office.
4 Jun 2026Crime & PolicingempatheticThe recent incidents of antisocial behaviour in Looe have been particularly distressing for our local community. No one should feel unsafe in the area where they live and the actions of a small minority should not affect the wellbeing of others.
2 Jun 2026Health & NHSmeasuredIn their response I am glad that they are taking the issues seriously. They are listening to concerns and have already taken steps to move from 'Requires improvement' to 'Good' under CQC ratings, and will carry on working hard so patients see improvements over the next few months.
