10 Jul 2026Defence & SecuritymeasuredThe UK has always played a vital role across the world in securing stability.🌍️ That's why I hosted a trilateral meeting in Parliament between the Somalia and Turkiye so we can work together to provide security in Somalia and the wider region.
10 Jul 2026Defence & SecuritymeasuredI want to thank @andyburnham.bsky.social for apologising for Labour’s initial response to the horrific conflict in Gaza. We've made huge steps - sanctioning members of the Israeli Government and recognising the state of Palestine. But we need to move quicker and do more.
9 Jul 2026MP & ParliamentcelebratoryI've nominated the fantastic Andy for the leadership of the Labour Party and therefore to become our next Prime Minister. Andy's vision is rooted in Labour values - putting power back in your hands and money back in your pockets. I'm excited to work with him for constituents in Manchester Rushome.
9 Jul 2026MP & ParliamentangryRupert Lowe has been on the Joe Rogan Experience to push Islamophobic lies claiming the UK has parallel Sharia courts to the UK judicial system. He knows this isn't true. I've written to the Standards Commissioner to ask him to investigate Rupert's conduct.
9 Jul 2026Social CaremeasuredToday’s findings in the Timms Review’s interim report are a welcome step forwards. From conversations I’ve had with constituents on PIP, I am confident that we can find the right path forward towards a system that put people’s respect, happiness, and independence first.
8 Jul 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryGreat to meet with the British Muslim Trust and key stakeholders across GM to discuss what more can be done here in Manchester to tackle anti-Muslim hostility, following the Labour Government's definition earlier this year.☪️
8 Jul 2026MP & ParliamentmeasuredI’m finding increasing delays from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in responding to important casework from my constituents. I’ve written to Pat McFadden, DWP Secretary, asking him to look into this so I can support my constituents effectively and efficiently with their problems.
7 Jul 2026Local GovernmentcelebratoryThank you to @bevcraig.bsky.social for joining me at the BMHC this week to learn more about how you'll be able to best represent Muslim communities in Manchester as our mayor.☪️ Vote Bev for us on the 30th of July.🗳️🌹
7 Jul 2026ImmigrationmeasuredChanges to the asylum system must respect human rights. That's why today I've been to the Justice Select Committee as a representative of the Joint Committee on Human Rights to ask questions about the upcoming asylum changes - making sure that any changes are always putting human rights first.
7 Jul 2026MP & ParliamentangryNigel has run off scared because he knew that his corruption had finally caught up with him. He can't pretend to be a man of the people whilst taking £5 million from billionaires and getting help from a convicted fraudster. This stunt is just distraction from his abuse of power and his shady money.
7 Jul 2026MP & ParliamentsarcasticBecause he'll lose, just as he did in Rochdale in 2024 and Manchester Gorton in 2017. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater...
6 Jul 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryCongratulations to @childrenssociety.bsky.soc for your incredible milestone of 35 years providing essential services to children who go missing. Your work has changed the lives of so many vulnerable children in our city - we are all so thankful for what you do.💛

5 Jul 2026EnvironmentempatheticOver 1,200 people die each year in Greater Manchester because of polluted air. That's why it was so important to meet with @asthmaandlunguk to hear the launch of their OUR AIR, OUR VOICES report and learn more about how I can help them to reduce health inequalities and save lives.
5 Jul 2026Environmentcelebratory70 years ago today the first Clean Air Act was passed.🌤️ I'm proud of the progress we've made and I'll always champion clean air action in Parliament and in Manchester. I will continue to fight to make our air safe, reduce health inequalities, and save lives.
4 Jul 2026Health & NHScelebratoryWe are continuing to support Palestinians in Gaza to study in the UK. We will also evacuate critically ill children so they can get treatment from the NHS. I met students we've helped to speak to them about their studies. I'm proud to bring students to Britain so that they can rebuild their lives.
4 Jul 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryHad a lovely time celebrating the 69th independence anniversary of Ghana with constituents!🎉
4 Jul 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryHulme Community Garden Centre is a wonderful space for communities to get together. They're also now working to expand opportunities for young people in the horticultural space - widening access to gardening for people across my constituency!🌳🌸
3 Jul 2026MP & ParliamentcelebratoryAnother busy week in Parliament!⭐️ Here's just a few of the things I've done before heading back to Manchester Rusholme for a back-to-back weekend with constituents.✅️
3 Jul 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratorySo good to welcome Bristol's Lord Mayor, Yassin Mohamud, to my constituency to talk about how we can work together on behalf of Somali communities in our areas!☀️
2 Jul 2026Culture & CommunitycelebratoryGreat to be joined by our Labour candidate for Greater Manchester Mayor @bevcraig.bsky.social and @lucympowell.bsky.social to celebrate the contributions that Bangladeshi communities have made to our city!🎉
1 Jul 2026Defence & SecuritymeasuredGreat to be back with my colleagues and Husam Zomlot at Labour Friends of Palestine and the Middle East - continuing to push for the inalienable rights of the Palestinians and the State of Palestine to be respected and protected.
30 Jun 2026EducationcelebratorySo pleased to celebrate #BiomedicalScienceDay with the Institute of Biomedical Science in Parliament and show my support for the fantastic labs at @manchester.ac.uk and @manmetuni.bsky.social in my constituency.🧪🔬
30 Jun 2026ImmigrationmeasuredThe student loan system isn't working for graduates either. It's raking up staggering sums for graduates who are struggling to pay it back. Should we really use a similar system again? Asylum seekers will already pay tax if they're allowed to work - this just acts like an extra tax on a human right.
30 Jun 2026ImmigrationangryEssentially taxing asylum seekers for exercising their rights under int'l law is cruel, pushing vulnerable people further into a precarious economic position. Asylum seekers could contribute by making it easier to work upon arrival - we shouldn't punish people for fleeing war. buff.ly/7NAaQ95
29 Jun 2026Crime & Policingcelebratory🚨TW: Knife crime🚨 Knowing how to treat someone who has been stabbed and creating safe knife amnesties to allow people to give up their knives saves lives. It is great to see these demonstrations across the city - showing young people that there is a different path. Together, we can end it.
29 Jun 2026ImmigrationangryJohn Major is spot on. Reform don’t care about our country or our communities. All they care about is blaming Muslims and migrants for everything and anything. www.middleeasteye.net/news/ex-brit...
29 Jun 2026Transportcelebratory@@bevcraig.bsky.social will continue @andyburnham.bsky.social's ground-breaking work as Mayor on the Bee Network. She will make bus travel free for 11-18-year-olds - reducing your family costs - if you elect her as Greater Manchester's Mayor on the 30th of July.🚌🌹 Vote Bev for us.🗳️
29 Jun 2026Housing & PlanningcelebratoryToday Labour has repealed the archaic Vagrancy Act, decriminalising homelessness. Some of the most vulnerable people in our society faced £1,000 fines for being homeless - pushing people away from seeking the support they need. No more. It's our moral mission to end homelessness for good.
28 Jun 2026Health & NHScelebratoryI thanked the British Islamic Medical Association for the huge contribution Muslim healthcare workers make to our NHS. We also spoke about how we can tackle Islamophobia in the NHS. Parts of the NHS have already adopted Labour's anti-Muslim hostility definition, but there is still more we can do.
