Education

Weekly mean sentiment per party — parties with ≥5 MPs posting on this issue

Click a point on the chart to see what drove that week's number.

−1 = strongly critical / condemning · 0 = neutral · +1 = strongly supportive / celebratory. Lines break where there were no posts in that week.

Where parties are internally split12 topics

Topics where MPs from the same party have widely different reactions — half supportive, half critical. A party-level average alone hides these splits.

MP counts in each viewpoint bucket. Empty cells mean no MPs landed in that bucket. Buckets use the same anchor words as the chart.

How this works

  • Each post is categorised and scored by an automated analysis. The score reflects the argumentative tone of the MP's own post — not what other people are saying about them.
  • Sentiment averages are computed per-MP first, then aggregated. This stops one heavy-posting MP from dominating their party's signal.
  • Window is the last 60 days of posts in our database. The full longitudinal view becomes available once we backfill the rest of the parliament.
  • Only "substantive" posts are included — birthday tweets and condolences are filtered out.
  • Conservative MPs are largely absent from Bluesky — only 2 with handles in our cohort — so no Conservative party signal is available here.
