Sleaford & North Hykeham

Apr 2026

Represented by Con since 2024. Covers Sleaford, North Hykeham and Washingborough and Heighington. Population 98,548, notably older (median age 46 vs 41 nationally). Recorded crime is 40% below the national average.

Caroline Johnson has been an unusually active rebel on public health grounds, twice breaking with the Conservative majority to back the Tobacco and Vapes Bill -- at both Second and Third Reading -- making her one of the few Tories to consistently support the legislation creating a smokefree generation. Her medical background as a paediatrician directly informs that stance. Beyond Parliament, she secured a notable constituency outcome in 2025-26, pressing the Attorney General to review what she called a "woefully inadequate" sentence for a driver who killed two teenagers -- an intervention that resulted in a longer jail term at the Court of Appeal.

Johnson votes with the Conservatives 99.4% of the time, making her two public health rebellions the clearest divergence from party discipline. Her participation rate of 71% sits below the Commons average. Consistent patterns in her voting show strong alignment with pro-business (92%) and tough-on-crime (92%) positions, while she votes against workers' rights measures and progressive taxation at rates well above the Conservative norm. Notably, she votes 100% against Lords override motions -- more resistant than her party average by 26 percentage points -- and has backed Lords amendments on pension fund investment mandation and public sector pension transparency.
