A safe Green seat, won with 55% of the vote in 2024. Centred on Brighton and Hove. Population 112,000, notably young (median age 34 vs 41 nationally), highly educated (46% degree-holders). 6,120 businesses.

Siân Berry has been one of the more vocal opposition MPs in recent weeks, publicly calling on Keir Starmer to resign over the Peter Mandelson vetting controversy, accusing the Prime Minister of lying repeatedly on the matter. She has also written to the Home Secretary demanding comprehensive protection for communities facing far-right intimidation, raised disabled constituents' access to a local railway station in a dedicated parliamentary debate, and condemned Reform's comments on Grenfell as part of her housing safety advocacy. Her one rebel vote -- backing the government's limit on Agricultural Property Relief in December 2025, against the Green Party's majority position -- suggests she judged the inheritance tax reform on its merits despite farming community opposition.

At 79% voting participation, Berry is somewhat below the Commons average, though she has been actively speaking, with 358 contributions across 132 debates since her election in July 2024. Her speeches concentrate on economy and jobs, crime, local government, and social care. She votes with the Green Party in 99.7% of divisions -- effectively a loyal party-liner outside that single rebel vote -- and her stance profile reflects Green priorities: strongly pro-workers' rights (96%), pro-climate action (83%), and pro-lords reform (86%), while voting against business-friendly and fiscal-consolidation positions in the vast majority of cases.
