11 Mar 2026Energy Security and Net Zero Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 753)

Will it be uber and monolith? How big do you think it will be?

11 Mar 2026Energy Security and Net Zero Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 753)

Okay. Peter, in terms of trying to avoid the past retrofit quality issues, how can performance testing and accreditation be strengthened? Do you think that that is something that the Warm Homes Agency will be able to do, roll out and deliver successfully?

11 Mar 2026Energy Security and Net Zero Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 753)

I do not know then how the Warm Homes Agency remains accountable for any of this if it just rolls everything out through organisations, because then its ability to keep track of what other third parties are doing becomes more difficult.

Thank you. Dion, what steps do you think are needed for trusted, accessible advice for older people and digitally excluded groups and renters?

11 Mar 2026Energy Security and Net Zero Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 753)

No, I’m sorry—I have eight minutes. In terms of the Warm Homes Agency and its role in improving consumer protection, co-ordinating local delivery at scale, how do you think that it can do that, Brenda?

11 Mar 2026Energy Security and Net Zero Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 753)

I wonder why people always think that leaflets in GP surgeries are the ideal thing for communication with people. It is a strange thing that people think that that is the way to do it or pin something on a notice board. Okay, so—

Do you think anyone will use it? Do you think anybody will know that the Warm Homes Agency even exists if it has not got an office on the high street or—

Having the partnership activity, so that they are not going to be required to engage with the public directly necessarily if they can use agencies and organisations like yours.

9 Mar 2026Type 1 Diabetes: Infant Testing

My hon. Friend is laying out, in a very careful and considered way, the importance of the screening process and the ease with which it can be implemented to avoid more tragic stories like Lyla’s. Does she agree that mandatory screening is essential, because most children diagnosed with type 1 diabetes have no family hi

9 Mar 2026Immigration Policy

On the issue of indefinite leave to remain, the Minister said from the Dispatch Box that there will be “close consideration” of the public consultation that concluded last month, and yet last week the Home Secretary said that she is determined to push ahead with those changes to retrospective indefinite leave to remain

9 Mar 2026Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill

I congratulate the Government on making kinship care central to their policies. Many children in care experience significant disruption in their lives, through multiple home moves and school changes, and relationships with their brothers and sisters are so central to a child’s sense of identity, belonging and emotional

When do you think that will be?

Is this assessment done on a daily basis?

4 Mar 2026Energy Security and Net Zero Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 736)

Will it definitely, given grid connections, given constraints? We are going to talk about those things, but will it be?

20
4 Mar 2026Energy Security and Net Zero Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 736)

I want to talk about some connections reform and constraint costs in a bit more detail. If grid connections are not facilitated in a timely manner, what impact will there be on consumer bills? Can you put figures on it over the next few years?

4 Mar 2026Energy Security and Net Zero Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 736)

In your statement, Jonathan, you said that gas still sets the price for electricity the majority of the time. My question is why? If renewables went over 50% of UK delivery in 2024, and if we include other low-carbon measures, like nuclear power, that takes us up to 60%. So why are we still stuck with electricity being

This is very interesting, Fintan, but if they are not done in a timely manner—I do not know what your definition of a timely manner is, and I would be very happy for you to give me a series of dates—what does that really mean for consumer costs?

4 Mar 2026Energy Security and Net Zero Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 736)

Jonathan, do you feel confident and comfortable in that? Do you feel like you can go to consumers and say, “It is all right, the plan is working. We think we now have a plan. We got rid of all of those projects that were just hanging around. We are doing it on a first-delivery, ready-to-go project basis. This is going

From an outside perspective, it does feel like it is taking a long time for us to see meaningful impacts on those connections. Reforms to the queue were suggested three or four years ago. Why does it take so long?

4 Mar 2026Energy Security and Net Zero Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 736)

None of this is a surprise though, is it? I really do not understand why it takes so long and processes are established for a sense of processes’ sake.
