18 Dec 2024Environmental Audit Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 501)

I am going to be cheeky and ask a further follow-up question. Does early next year mean Q1—will we be as lucky as that?

Just to circle back, I have a final question relating to the 30 by 30 strategy for land in England. Could you tell us a bit more about what the process will be to implement that strategy, particularly given that we do not currently have a land use framework in place?

This is a similar line of questioning. During COP16, DEFRA published a 30 by 30 strategy on land in England. Full guidance, as I understand it, will be published in 2025, according to the strategy. When in 2025 can we expect that guidance to be issued?

11 Dec 2024Environmental Audit Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 499)

Minister Doughty, we have recently heard from Jane about frustrations and impasse in the state of international relations. Evidence heard from the previous committee during its inquiry raised substantial concerns around the management of fisheries in Antarctica. Reports from the 43rd annual meeting of CCAMLR criticise

Given that you have just talked to us there about a situation in which consensus has not been possible, in which you have not been able to find an agreement, and the risks that that is raising, what specific actions can or is the FCDO taking to try to move beyond that and create a way around some of these geopolitical

9 Dec 2024Planning Committees: Reform

Residents in towns and villages across my constituency want an efficient and accountable planning system. Could the Minister set out in more detail how he sees these plans interacting with processes around master planning and the negotiation of planning conditions?

27 Nov 2024Environmental Audit Committee — Oral Evidence (HC 447)

Given the importance that you have given to electricity prices this afternoon—again, you might give me the same answer here—but would the Committee recommend any further fiscal measures for the Government to consider in addressing the gas/electricity price ratio?

An important part of the evidence this afternoon has been around heat decarbonisation. We have just had the autumn Budget and seen some announcements in that relating to that point. Looking at the figures announced in the Budget, would you say that the up-front support for incentivising heat decarbonisation and also th

Within your 2024 report you set out 10 priority actions, which cover a number of areas. Would delivery of these actions be sufficient to achieve the Sixth Carbon Budget? To follow that up with a few other quick questions, we do not have much of 2024 left now. Are there gaps in the delivery of those 10 priority actions

To return to recent announcements, could I tempt you to comment on the coherence of Budget measures relating to the decarbonisation of transport? Are there any measures that you would like to see us recommending to the Government when it comes to fiscal measures and the decarbonisation of transport?

Good afternoon gentleman. To think in general terms about where we are off track and on track for delivery, we have heard just now that where we are off track is in part because of some of the assumptions in our thinking not being borne out in the long term, around the weight of cars, for example, and some of the effic

Many of my constituents will be impacted by this deeply worrying announcement, so can the Secretary of State confirm what discussions he is having with trade unions on this specific subject and what plans he has to mitigate the job losses for residents of North East Hertfordshire?
